FROM THE HOUSE OF LORDS SAVING NORFOLK BROADS.

Post by RICHARD YEO on Aug 25, 2016 2:53:15 GMT -6
two shots ring out in the woods followed by a yell and the panicked thud of hooves.
pressed up against a tree is a woman whose bleeding shoulder is drowned by the orange of her high visibility jacket. beside her, a man grasps at her shoulder but he’s stuttering through tears. on the forest floor lie one guns which have already been forgotten; the plastic wood of a h&r handi rifle. another gun – a marlin lever – is still loosely hugged in the hook of the woman’s arm as she keep her eyes scrunched closed even as she hears rustling.
her hunting partner doesn’t ignore the noise. he twists his head, eyes frantically searching as he calls through the clearing of the woods, “is anyone there?”

curse me good | RICHARD YEO - Sorry for the delay (also I feel weird controlling NPCs other people introduce. So I didn't. =X) A pen rolled slowly between thumb and index finger as Carie let out the idle hum of a woman in thought. The area seemed to be about what one would expect from a woodland area in the midwest. Between firsthand experience, the tracks and droppings left behind it wasn't too difficult to surmise the gist of the area's wildlife. From squirrels and chipmunks to foxes to the ever threatening bears this place just about had it all. Despite the threat of the more dangerous creatures present in the area, it was a comfort to know that there were many alternative food sources that made their homes in the area. Fresh meat was always a fine luxury in times of crisis, something which would always have a value to it both for personal use and for trade. The area also was home to a number of edible plant life, something she would have to make note of if she ever found herself instructing the locals. Knowing what can and cannot be eaten in your local area can be a big advantage in a survival scenario, especially when there are no hunting supplies readily available. She took a moment to survey the area with a satisfied smile, seeming to be content with her findings. No matter how strange this town may be, it was always comforting to know she would have a good source of food to fall back on. Sliding the notebook into her backpack she took a moment to loop up at the sunlight through the treeline. After making note of it's position and would turn to make way for home. At least that was her plan. She jumped at the sound of gunshots in the distance, a hand moving for a pistol that rested in a holster to her side. The shout that followed after sent a chill down her spine, numerous terrible scenarios running through her head all at once. Teeth clenched as she drew the pistol that sat holstered on her hip, moving toward the source of the noise without hesitation. She kicked off the ground at a full sprint, the wind on her face calling the cold sweat forming on her face to attention. No matter how much she prepared herself for these types of situations, being faced with them was something she could never truly be ready for. Even if she knew how to handle any situation, there was always the chance something would go wrong. At the same time she took an odd sort of comfort in her nervousness. Arrogance is a slow and insidious killer, after all. As she neared the source of the shots she heard a voice ring out, this time much clearer than the yell she could only assume was from the victim. She didn't dare raise her voice in reply, not until she could confirm the situation. The voice didn't sound like it was in pain, meaning it wasn't the victim calling out. For all she knew it was the shooter attempting to draw out any witnesses, a risk she was not willing to take. Instead she kept as quiet as she could while maintaining her pace, leaves still crunching under her boots as she raced to her destination. Green stained curved into a frown as the two came into view, her gun being held in both hands with the barrel pointed downward and away from the hunters. Eyes scanned the area as she slowed her pace to a walk, breathing suddenly growing more labored as her exertion caught up with her. It was hard to tell if there was anyone else in the area, leaving her with no choice but to address the two in her view. They were certainly dressed as hunters, and neither of them had a weapon in their hands. Still she couldn't rule out the possibility of a third person in the area. "What happened here?" She kept her distance from the two, gun at the ready but still pointed to the ground. She kept a distance of a few yards between them, eyes still surveying the surrounding forest. No matter what happened she knew that woman was going to need help, but caution wasn't a habit she felt like breaking today. |
