history
josephine abigail mills was born thirteen years ago. she died when she was ten years old.
but don't fear! just because josephine was dead doesn't mean joey didn't live on! no, rather it was a metaphorical death, and a major turning point in young joey's life. joey knew they weren't male or female, and for the first time, they felt like they belonged. too bad no one really understood.
their parents would still slip up and call them her, and bullies at school yelled out terrible things at them. but joey tried not to let it get them down.
instead of focusing on it, joey turned their attention to exploring. they'd always liked to run around outside and venture out as far as possible before their mom called them back. but now they were a little older and their parents were busy with their younger brother, so they had a lot of time alone. it was perfect - they could get on their bike and just ride.
it was no secret that anytown was full of strange happenings, especially in recent years. this piqued joey's interest, and soon they were following the trail of all sorts of things - things that thirteen year olds shouldn't be following. they found their way into the runaways, a group of like-minded kids who were trying to unravel the mysteries of anytown.
for the first time, joey felt like they belonged - just their bike and a flashlight riding off into the night.
