The streets are silent in Westside. That sweet, heavy, syrupy silence that just covers everything. There are noises, of course. Background noises everyone is too used to to hear without concentrating on them: distant cars, the wind through the leaves, the buzzing of the street lights, that cat walking through the bushes... But to the untrained ear, this isn't noise, it's merely a part of the scenery, like the Hansens' house, the fountain in the park or the Aspen LTD factory. So we could really say the streets were silent, covered by that mighty drape of absence of unfamiliar noise, a contextual silence that fills the ears like cotton.
A sound. A soft, high pitched creaking, such as is made by a front door whose hinges need just a dab of WD-40, breaks the silence like a giant explosion. Rapid footsteps on the sidewalk that seem to make more noise than they normally do because the entity making them is trying really, really hard not to make any sounds. They echo on every house and just seem to be coming from every where at once. A shadow passes from bush to bush, parked car to parked car and hogs the darkness. The creature passes between houses, turns the corner and rapidly exits the quiet neighborhood and sets off towards the factory.
A car turns the corner and passes, the high-beams as bright as the sun reveal all the details of the scenery and despite the creature's bests efforts, illuminate it for all the world to see. It gasps in horror as the vehicle gets closer... and passes it without blinking an eye. Gabie sighs, thinking if this was Metal Gear Solid she'd have screwed her cover and be swarmed by enemy soldiers. She adjusted her backpack and continued her way towards the factory.
The place was abandoned they said. The only things inside were forgotten property and it only served as a temporary shelter for the occasional drifter. And that was why Gabie came here. The mysterious blood that was found all over the place the other day was near the woods. There's nothing in those woods capable of harming a human being that would come this close to the city... And the fact that no body was found? It didn't add up. People said they were drifters... why would drifters go near the woods? It didn't make sense. The best course of action would be to investigate the hobos' usual squats.
The chain-link fence surrounding the area was under lock and key so the only way was over. Gabie climbed it awkwardly and dropped to the other side. She removed her backpack for a minute and took out two items from inside it before slinging it back on her shoulders. She turned her flashlight on and set off towards the big, dark, abandoned building with an air of determination on her face.

Gabie hadn’t been the only one interested in the old factory that night.
One of Sanchez’s Delicatessen Shoppe’s second floor windows opened in the darkness. From it, one could hear muffled traditional music - some 60’s, Jimi Hendrix inspired rock - but the effect was lost when the sound of a heavy backpack hit the ground, and a young man threw himself at a nearby tree, grunted as he hit the usual sturdy branch, and lowered himself down to the ground.
Sue Sanchez had some urbex to do, and he was prepared.
He straightened his letter jacket, quickly assured his pompadour was perfect, and went to his bag to ensure he hadn’t forgotten anything: baseball bat, flashlight and batteries, his flip cellphone, camera, some food, first aid kit, rope, survival knife. Along with his skateboard, everything was there. He’d packed efficiently, all things considered - the bag couldn’t have weighted more than a few pounds. Urbex was Sanchez’s latest passion - especially with the weirdness in town, which seemed to require more and more ventures into the unknown - so over time he made the kit, just to be, you know.
On the safe side.
Better safe than sorry.
So Sue rode his skateboard down the streets as fast as he could, rolling down in direction of the old abandoned factory: Aspen LTD. It was an old place, and kids were told not to go there because it might dangerous - which only heightened their own curiosity. Lately, it had been home to some vagrants and homeless folks, due to the oppressing heat of the day, and sharp cold of the night - Aspen delivered shade and cover without requiring coin. And that’s where Sue wanted to start investigating the disappearance of the supposed vagrant.
His reasons were threefold. First, he knew some of the poor suckers out there in the streets: you don’t sell value hot dogs and hamburgers and other foods without some poor sod without a roof over his head coming in and taking one once in a while. So one could say he was a bit worried for the underdogs. Second, they probably had something to say about this whole abducting and bloody scene - even if the police didn’t like it, they were around town, and saw more than one would have thought. So… If there was a trail, it could start there.
“Also it was one of their FRIENDS they’d lost, for god’s sakes,” Sue thought a bit nervously. “Obviously they saw something.”
His timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Sue HAD told people of the Runaways that he would be going to Aspen LTD to investigate, and that help would be appreciated, so when he saw the youthful shadow move through the nights, a small smile spread over his face. And then disappear as quickly as it came.
Wait.
Who was that?
“...Gabie?” Sue ventured, grabbing his skateboard and approaching the girl. “...It is you! Gosh, I was wondering who it was!” The kid laughed lightly and as silently as he could, offering a fist bump to the diminutive girl: they’d been friends since childhood. One complicated dap giving session later, Sue looked around and back at the redheaded girl. “What are you doing out of your cave though? I mean the last time I’ve seen you out of your house or the Shoppe was when your house had a kitchen fire, two years ago - and even then you almost puked! So what gives, chicka?”

Maisie liked to believe she heard about it before anyone else, but even she knew this was false and kept the fantasy in her head. Part of her wanted to be there, at the scene when it had happened. A gruesome murder? Or a complex alien abduction? [break][break]
Riding out on her bike, camera on a lanyard around her neck, she rode out to the industrial complex. In her mind she had a grand, magnificent goal of making contact with intelligent life not from earth. Nobody really could tell her otherwise. [break][break]
Chaining her bike up at the entrance of the complex, Maisie pulled out a voice recorder and started rolling: "Okay so...everyone is convinced this thing is like...a regular murder." She stopped, for dramatic effect. "But it's not! " [break][break]
She recorded the time and paused the recorder, stuffing it in the pocket of her parka and producing a flashlight, in case she wandered from the otherwise lit passageways of the park. Towards the forest however - that was where her interest lay. She adjusted the strap of her backpack - inside was a mallet, a field journal, a rushed chicken and mayonnaise sandwich, and a lighter. [break][break]
For the first time in a while, she'd been beaten to the punch. There were two kids at the scene around about where the killings had happened - abductions, even. Did she know them? In this light she couldn't identify them, eve if the hair on the guy was...strikingly familiar. She pulled out her recorder. [break][break] "Seems like some other kids got here before me, might have to lay low for a while..."

She got home after school, dance and her hour of exercise, took a shower, changed her clothes, ate the meal her mom heated up for her, picked her bag, said bye-bye to her family and hopped on her bike as soon as possible. It was already pretty late, but she had her phone, so her mom was okay with the fact that her daughter was out when it was dark outside if she was with her friends.
So yes, Seong Hee was riding in the direction of the industrial park, to Aspen LTD more precisely. She just knew that Sue was going there and that other runaways could join them to investigate on the last weird affair in town. The thing with the blood that was strange and scary… she didn’t have a lot of details, but at least she knew it was interesting.
When the young lady arrived on the place, she just left her bike on the ground near the fence, climbed it and got to the other side without much difficulty, Then she adjusted her bag on her back and walked in the direction of the light, hearing voices. She immediately recognized Sue’s silhouette, but it was the first time she saw the owner of the flashlight. Seong Hee stopped without saying a word, a bit scared to disturb them in their conversation. She looked around and saw another silhouette that didn’t seem like someone she knew. She considered going away and start the investigation, but it was a bit too creepy for her to go alone and the atmosphere was… kind of surreal. Was there really a murder nearby ? What if it was a bunch of killers and they were close ? Brrr… In the end, it was a better idea to take the risk to disturb her friend talking with his friend and another stranger. The teenager approached the trio, holding her bag as if it was to give her some courage and she waved at them with a little smile. She greeted them gently :

She froze. A voice... that knows her name?
Gabie turned around slowly and finally exhaled after seeing Sue's face. Anyone else would've had a taste of what she held in her left hand. She discreetly hooked the thing on her belt and proceeded to their secret super awesome handshake they had created years ago.
"Well, wise guy, it's night now so I don't have the sun to weaken me and ultimately turn me to ashes after a prolonged exposure. And as for being here... wait what are you doing here? You're either stalking me or you're here to investigate, like me... But since you're dumb, you must just be a creepy perv."
She smiled and punched him on the shoulder. She turned towards the factory and shined her flashlight on the busted doors and broken windows.
"You know that police investigation that happened near the woods? I just thought it was weird that they'd just assume it was one of those less than fortunate souls that normally hang around here and have no business in the woods. If they really had to move out of their usual spots they must've had a reason..."
She wanted to say something along the lines of "with all the weird, supernatural-ish things happening around town maybe something crazy happened here" but she was the smart, potty-mouthed shut-in that spends her day arguing with people and using logical, scientifically proven facts as arguments. Gabie was not about to kick a hole in the image she had built around herself... that actually no one knew and/or cared about. Especially not Sue.
"What I really want to say is, and don't laugh, is that I think that OH FU-"
She turned her flashlight off and dashed behind Sue as the second voice resonated around the empty compound, using the Hispanic teen as a bulwark that would protect her against the dangers of socialization with strangers. She whispered through her gritted teeth while trying to keep all of her smallish body hidden behind the bulk of the Joestar pompadour'd youth.
"Give your life to protect your Queen, serf!"
