Asher faces extreme insecurity. So much that he fakes your basic "cool kid" persona in attempts to make himself feel better. It's also a way of deriving attention. But it doesn't work, naturally. His friends aren't friends, they never last. Asher doesn't associate himself with the correct people and he doesn't search for them either. His extreme intelligence, odd sunglasses, and homelessness have dubbed him a "weirdo" of sorts but not a single person in school will deny that Asher is very handsome for his age. Mix good looks with flirtatious ways and you've got a boy who has girls but can never keep them because he can't quite comprehend love just yet. Romance is easy for Asher to fake but when it comes to actually feeling deeply for another person he certainly can't fake that and ohp there's another girl crying because of his confessions. Why won't anybody listen? Why won't anybody help me? Asher wonders but never receives an answer. Surprisingly, the blonde is hardly ever sad and chill about mostly anything. Sure he feels a deep sorrow when family is taken into consideration but otherwise he has learned to deal with everyday situations level-headedly. However, those who have seen Asher mad claim to never want to be around him again out of fear. Touchy subjects are hard to hit Asher with and you can beat on him all you want but he won't fight back aggressively. He doesn't believe in that "crap" and would rather deal with problems and issues through words.
Emotions aren't Asher's problem whatsoever but when they do break through and hit they end up hitting pretty damn hard. Good thing Asher is a guy who focuses on the positive things in life rather than the negative. His jokes are an effective remedy for anyone dealing with any negative feelings. Asher never fails to entertain whether it's by being a fool, totally roasting another person, or cracking a pun at just the right time. His social skills are amazing. Only a few seconds after entering a room the blonde will have a whole group surrounding him, locked in deep conversation. His grades have him at top tier in school and on the "recommended" list for just about anything you can think of. Overall Asher seems pretty normal. But deep down he has yet to deal with his own troubles. His immense worry and yearning that can't be solved with a simple mood-lifting comedy movie or any hot girl's kiss. He forces his made up persona on himself so much that being "himself" is nearly impossible. Who is Asher? How could he answer that without even knowing the truth?
The real Asher is a complete mystery as of now. It'd take a real special and devoted person to break down each piece of the blonde and get him to stop pretending. To be real.
history
He woke up cold and dirty, but not afraid. Oh, and his head hurt like Hell. That too. Asher wasn't even Asher then. He was a nobody. Literally a nobody, not just some depressed teenager who gave themselves that kind of nickname to express their feelings or something like that. No name, no money, no home, no family. All alone covered in dirt and grime and... other things... with barely enough cloth covering his body to pass as an appropriate ensemble. All alone in a shack in the middle of nowhere; sunburned from head to toe, but not afraid. Just lonely. He scratched his head and wondered "Who am I?" but mostly "Damn I'm hungry" before leaving the empty house or more so makeshift fail of a botanical garden full of crap. Only a picture of three unfamiliar faces and a pair of sunglasses are by Asher's side now. His heart hurts for some reason. As if he left something - or someone - behind there in that disgusting home. Oh well.
He's in a field and he rips through tall, tall corn crops for hours until he meets a road. One headed straight for Anytown, USA. That's what the sign says. Well it's not like he has an exact destination in mind so... Anytown it is! Of course a nearly naked kid who can barely walk straight and seems completely worn out as if his skin had been dragged through razors and soot isn't gonna get by for very long on the highway without attracting some attention. A few minutes later and a patrol officer is on his butt. Asking all sorts of questions before wrinkling his nose and reluctantly allowing Asher inside of his car. The blonde-haired boy figures it's the man's duty. Once he sees himself in the mirror he knows why the officer is slowly scooting away from him and also self-consciously takes a whiff of his armpits before shrugging. The smell is normal to him. Almost comforting.
Stuck in a station, devouring all the food and drinks given to him, Asher makes up answers to the common questions that wouldnt be so hard to answer if he had any memories before today at all. Asher, the name, because he sees ashes fall from the bud of a cigarette hanging from an officer's mouth. Plus it sounds cool and he's proud that he made it up all by himself. Valentine because that's the holiday. And his birthday, he says, and assumes, before shoving more chips into his mouth. "I live in Anytown, USA. Just got lost is all." It's a terrible lie but seems to pass as excusable. Asher is given a few odd looks before pulling on the sunglasses he has along with the too big shirt, pants, and sandals that another police man throws in his direction. He pats the picture now stuffed inside the left back pocket of his pants before hopping in another strange vehicle. It's fine, he assures himself, they're the good people. But Asher feels uncomfortable in his own skin and now his heartache is heavy. The cloth against his raw skin feels wrong. Everything feels wrong.
Sleep only brings flashes of images to a waking Asher who can hardly remember the blurry pictures but feels somewhat satisfied that he can leave the people who helped him. He doesn't say thank you before hopping out on the edge of the South side of Anytown. Asher is clean now, all shiny and pristine, his hair slicked up with far too much gel, smile plastered on his face. Even his teeth with weird metal parts on them are white and smooth rather than fuzzy and multicolored like they used to be. People whisper about him. Somehow he can hear even the quietest of noises. Or maybe those are in his head? Asher realizes his real home is unknown and he belongs nowhere. Has no one that loves him. But he has the feeling that there are people watching, out there somewhere. Probably. It's what he tells himself and that's just fine for now. How he got away with petty excuses is unknown. Probably cause those cops were small town folk. Not that any kids were reported missing, anyways, so Asher was let off easy. The blonde plans to find those three people in the picture. He knows they're important somehow with the way his heart yearns for the unknown and beats rapidly when his finger touches their paper faces. "I swear I will."
Started from the bottom: 10 years old and without a home. Now he's here: A successful teenager who's sorta kinda cool and a MASTER with the ladies 100%. Asher's got a home... well he lives in a warehouse but it's warm most nights and has a roof unlike his first "home" which consisted of a few pieces of cardboard next to a dumpster. Food is in steady supply at his job in the city which isn't a bad walk. He's apart of this gang called the runaways. The small group gives him life. Plus he keeps discovering weird stuff about himself. The super intelligence and amazing hearing are the first two. There's always something new or strange happening around the blonde, too, though after a while those new things started getting old. And annoying. And confusing. Asher is content with how he lives - it's not the worst, not like how he started at all - but still can't find his family. Or whoever he misses so much and can only meet within dreams. Whatever. He's focused on more teenager things like flirting, finding a date, homework, partying, AND BEING THE COOLEST GUY AND SCHOOL BOIIII!!!11!!
